Nadia Comaneci (Gheorghe Gheorghiu Dej currently Onesti) Romanian Gymnast born November 12, 1961. She was the first Romanian to be awarded a score of 10 at an Olympic competition. Bela Karrolyi, a Romanian gymnastics teacher who was later Comaneci's coach and first became aware of Comaneci at the age of six. She first competed at the national junior championships in Romania in 1969, she was 13th. In 1970, she the Romanian gymnast won. At her first international competition that was an preolympics junior event for nations in the Communist bloc, she was awarded three gold medals. Then in 1973 and 1975, she won named the all-around Junior Champion. In 1975 she was awarded 4 gold and 1 silver in her first senior competition. Lyudmila Torishcheva was a five-time European champion. She took home the American Cup in New York City in 1976 becoming the first female to do the backward double salto in dismounting from the uneven parallel bars. Carol Wayne.........................Carol Wayne was an American film and TV actor best recognized for portraying Art Fern's Tea-Time Movie Lady on The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson. Her career began in the entertainment industry as a teenager in which she was a part of a figure skating duo with her sister Nina Wayne for the travelling entertainment program Ice Capades. Carol Marie Wayne is a US citizen born September 6 1942, in Chicago Illinois. Carol started her entertainment career in her teens. She began her career as model skater with her younger twin sister Nina Wayne as part of the traveling entertainment shows called Ice Capades. The show featured stage-moving ice-skating performances.
